Miriam Saperstein is a writer, mixed-media artist, and ritual-crafter based in Philadelphia, PA. They are working on a book of poetry and hybrid works about the ecology, relationships, and histories of Jewish incantations. Currently, they’re working with the colonial entanglements of ancient demon bowls, and the relational practices of “opshprekherkes,” Eastern European women healers who “spoke-off” the evil eye.
Miriam’s first memory of the internet is their younger brother sitting on their mom’s lap in her office, “playing what we called “Elmo Chicken,” a computer game on the Sesame Street website involving Elmo doing the chicken dance. He was obsessed!”
The last book they recommended was The Everlasting by Katy Simpson Smith.
A place they want to return to is “the bike path along the Huron River. Especially this time of year. Autumn in Michigan is moody and gorgeous.”
